The dons of drivetime on 1Xtra and the faces of MTV Base

1Xtra and Radio 1 resident bad boys, Ace & Vis are now back on the TV with their shows on MTV Base! Starting out on the pirates, Ace & Vis were picked up by 1Xtra and have since won a Sony Gold Award for their daily drivetime show. They were given a show on Radio 1 sitting between Pete Tong and Westwood each and every Friday night. The 1Xtra takeover show was a huge success for them!

Remixer of Mark Ronson's 'Version' project and one of the UK's hottest urban talents

Baby J is one of the UK’s hottest producers right now. Having signed for All City in 2005, he then won best producer at the UMAs that year. He has worked with artists such as Brand Nubian, Shabazz the Disciple (Wu Tang Clan), Skinnyman, Dynamite MC, Klashnekoff and Mark Morrison to name but a few! He has released two albums to critical underground success but it is for his remix of Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse’ s ‘Valerie’ that he will be best known!

Mark Ronson was so impressed that he invited Baby J to remix the whole album - the remix package is with the label now awaiting release - and he was also support on Mark Ronson’s tour in Summer 2008. His latest album is released in October. ‘Baby Food’ features the single ‘Lies’ with guests Ashley Walters and Nathan performing on the track. He has also been asked to produce some tracks for Sugababes and Coco too!

Diggz is certainly a legend on the UK urban scene. He presented the R&B show on 1Xtra as well as the 1Xtra Takeover on Radio 1. He was also broadcast live to the nation on New Years Eve from Ministry of Sound alongside Trevor Nelson! He then took on the critically acclaimed ‘Born & Bred’ Radio show on the Galaxy Network, the only commercial radio show which concentrated on UK urban talent! He has been resident at Southport Weekender for the last 10 years – in fact the organisers have said that Southport would not be the same without his sets! Rising sensation Firestarr has been on the club scene from an early age. After spending many hours honing his skills behind the decks, he started organising his own parties. It was at one of these parties in 2001 where he was spotted by the owners of The Park nightclub in Peterborough. He became part of the DJ crew, The Park Posse, and went from strength to strength! Jay Sean is a British singer/songwriter from London. In 2003, Jay recorded his first single ‘Dance with You’ with leading Brit Asian producer Rishi Rich alongside Punjabi singer Juggy D. The track blew up and Jay, who was on course to becoming a doctor, cut short his medical school education to sign a deal with Virgin Records.

One UK No 12 and two top 10 singles later, his debut album ‘Me Against myself’ ended up selling over 300,000 copies worldwide in mainstream outlets. In India ‘Me Against Myself’ reached Number 1 going 5 times platinum. In addition Jay has also had a taste of Bollywood, appearing as himself performing live in the movie ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’.

During the last couple of years, as well as touring internationally in over 100 major cities across 4 continents, Jay has set up his own production company ‘Jayded’ - a joint venture between himself and his management company/record label. MJ Cole wrote and produced the Mercury award-nominated album ‘Sincere’ in 1998 which established him as one of the founding fathers of the UK garage scene. Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJ Ras Kwame is the true champion of UK urban music. His ‘Homegrown’ radio show is the only show on national UK radio championing exclusively the best urban music from these shores. Robbo Ranx is one of the biggest dancehall stars on radio today! His award winning radio show, ‘Dancehall Splurt’ is broadcast on Tuesdays at midnight and Thursdays at 10pm on BBC 1Xtra and has one the BBC’s largest radio audiences, with a huge following outside the UK listening to the show online. Grime and UKG's superstar and king of the 'Rolex Sweep'

Born Joseph Junior Adenuga, Skepta is a British rapper, commonly associated with the North London grime scene. One of the more smarter and more diligent entrepreneurs in the UK Music industry, he became renowned throughout Greater London due to his hit single, “Private Caller” which featured many of his ‘meridian crew’ from Meridian Walk in ‘Totty.’

His main target is to make grime music ‘main stream’ in the United Kingdom and the United States. So far, alongside accomplices like Wiley, Roll Deep, JME, President T, Trim, Frisco, Bossman and Big H, he has helped to increase the levels of ’spitting’, and has produced and created grime hits such as “Duppy,” “Stupid,” “R U Dumb,” “Fuckin’ Widda Team” and “The Large Way.”

His younger sibling ‘JME’ aka Jamie Adenuga has also been involved in the UK music industry in 2006, by releasing two of the better received mixtapes of the grime scene, “Shh Hut Yuh Muh” and “Poomplex.” Skepta featured on a few tracks on each of the albums, but now he is more focused on the release of his album “Greatest Hits”.

Skepta and his brother’s record label ‘Boy Better Know’ is also focusing on signing other creative artists, predominantly in North London, such as President T, Frisco & Wiley.

Skepta has most recently delivered possibly 2008’s most in demand club record ‘Rolex Sweep’ released by Ministry of Sound. He has also been nominated for Best Newcomer award at the MOBO awards capping off a fantastic twelve months! It can only get better for this talented artist.
